Britten’s Dirt Modified Masters At Lismore
27/01/2010 7:55:35 PM - Dennis Newlyn
The action was fast and exciting in the final of the V8 Dirt Modified Masters at Lismore Speedway taken out by current Australian Champion Peter Britten from Mark Robinson and Jai Stephenson.
The story of the race was Robinson’s performance after he came from the back of the field for his runner-up result in the Masters for the second consecutive year.
Driving on slick track conditions, Robinson charged from his starting position of 20 and was closing on ultimate winner Britten in the latter stages of the 30 main event.
Robinson was forced to do it the hard way from the back of the field after he sustained diff problems the previous night and contested only one heat.
On Grand Final night he started in the last chance B-Main and secured the final transfer spot to the rear of the main event on the penultimate lap of the B-Main.
Victorian Steve Milthorpe was one of the hard luck stories after he was eliminated from contention when he was involved in a crash that also took out Rian Collier and Tony Sneddon. All drivers were uninjured.
Other main event winners on the night were: Stuart Jefferies (AMCAs), David Santin (Wingless Sprints), Matthew Layton (Junior Sedans) and Warren Dhu (Street Stocks).
