MCHUGH HEADS THREE CAR LISMORE ATTACK
FOR tomorrow night’s $10,000 to win Lil Aussie Open at Castrol Lismore Speedway, the Tullboro Racing team will be fielding three 410 Sprintcars, and headlining this team driver line-up is one of the event’s leading contenders in Lachlan McHugh.
The Brisbane, Queensland-based team has a variety of drivers contesting the Lil Aussie Open, with McHugh steering the Qld # 74 Territory Logistics Company supported Maxim, along with current Australian V8 Dirt Modified Champion and local racer Mitchell Randall and Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia 86 Series youngster Bradi Owen running cars out of the Tullboro Racing team stable.
Heading into the Lil Aussie Open, McHugh has his eyes on collecting the $10,000 to win event and he is regarded as one of the favourites. Despite stepping away from his regular ride with the SRV Racing team for this cameo appearance, due to his team heading down to Victoria for the upcoming major events, such as the Grand Annual Classic and the Australian Championship, McHugh is determined to get the Tullboro Racing team into victory lane.
“It’s very exciting to have one of the country’s top 410 Sprintcar drivers join our team for the Lil Aussie Open,” expressed Tullboro Racing team owner Brodie Tulloch.
“Lachlan and his SRV Racing team crew chief Nick Speed will be joining our team on Tuesday night at Lismore Speedway, and due to this event not being on the SRV Racing team’s schedule, we did a deal with Lachlan for him to run with our team to support this event and we are all confident of being able to challenge for the win.”
Elsewhere in the Tullboro Racing team, despite only having a handful of 410 Sprintcar race meetings to his name, Randall is looking forward to running a 410 Sprintcar around his home track of Lismore Speedway for the first time. The Casino, NSW-based racer is the latest V8 Dirt Modified racer to try his hand at Sprintcar racing, where he joins the likes of Kevin Britten, Andrew Pezzutti, Mark Robinson and Scott Cannon who have done it in past years.
“One of Mitchell’s main reasons for stepping into 410 Sprintcars is to be able to race one around his home track,” commented Tulloch.
“Mitchell is one of the most experienced drivers around Lismore Speedway, so he is wanting to see how he goes against some of the country’s best Sprintcar racers. That said, he is realistic about his goals, as he is still very new to Sprintcar racing, but I’m confident he will make a good account of himself throughout the night.”
Apart from Randall’s success on the dirt speedways, he is also the 2023 Australian Production Car Champion in Class C on the tar circuit racing scene. Speaking of the tar circuit racing, fellow Tullboro Racing team mate and 410 Sprintcar racing newcomer Bradi Owen is currently competing in the Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia 86 Series.
“Bradi has adapted quite well to Sprintcar racing so far and it’s been fun helping him on his dirt track journey,” Tulloch said.
“One of the main reasons I have setup the Tullboro Racing team is provide drivers, regardless of their levels of experience, the opportunity to go Sprintcar racing – no matter if you are a top racer like Lachlan McHugh or a newcomer like Bradi Owen, we can cater for it.”
Tomorrow night’s $10,000 to win Lil Aussie Open at Castrol Lismore Speedway has attracted some of the world’s top running 410 Sprintcar racers in Americans Aaron Reutzel, Chase Randall, Justin Peck and Kalib Henry, along with Australian heavy hitters McHugh, current Australian champion Jock Goodyer, Luke Oldfield, Jy Corbet and Sammy Walsh.
