There will be a stampede at Castrol Lismore Speedway, Saturday night February 17, when Super Sedans are let loose on the circuit. The Super Sedan Stampede is the major headline attraction with support categories Compact Speedcars, RSA Sedans, Production Sedans and SSA Sedans also programmed.

It’s round nine of the McCosker Super Sedan Series and this event is sponsored by Brims Coastal Cement.
The Lismore promotional stampede tag says it all! A part of the dictionary meaning to the word “stampede” is very fitting for speedway – and particularly Super Sedans at the Lismore Showground Speedway venue: “a sudden, frenzied rush or headlong flight of a herd”

Super Sedans on the charge battling for positions on the tight confines of the Lismore venue is all that . . . and more! It represents fast, furious, very definitely frenzied, and entertaining action. It’s like an earth tremor of the four wheel variety and with some of the best Super Sedan drivers on the east coast entered, the racing will be cut thrust this weekend.

The modern era of Super Sedan racing also presents top equipment and a high level of professionalism. For promoters Kim and Mick Sauer it’s another variety programme and very appropriate for the iconic Castrol Lismore Speedway that made its name in building its illustrious history over the decades with sedan racing.

“We are very pleased to have the Super Sedans with us again,” co-promoter Kim Sauer said.
“These cars are fast and very spectacular and we will have a top line-up of drivers to do battle for main event honours.”

The chase for points in the McCosker Super Sedan Series is hotting up and the nominations include tournament leader Hayden Brims, also JJ Hamilton and Sam Hughes – both also very prominent in the point standings. Brims is the winner of three McCosker Super Sedan Series rounds this season and is clearly the form driver heading to Lismore.

The McCosker Super Sedan Series is one of the most competitive tournaments in Australian Super Sedan racing and is held with rounds primarily conducted in Queensland, but also the championship trail ventures interstate and the very popular Lismore circuit has been taking rounds of the series each season in more recent decade Lismore history.

Lismore’s long time female driver Tania Smith is amongst the nominations for the event.
It’s where she started her career some years ago and she will drive the latest model car out of the local Danny Smith owned and operated Rocket Racecars workshop.

Other big names amongst the nominations competing at Lismore are Tasmanian David Nichols, who will make his first appearance this season in the McCosker series, Steve Jordan, Sean Black, and Justin Randall, whose family have strong, long time connections with Lismore Speedway.
Drivers will compete in two heats to determine the field for the 35-lap main event.
