It’s on again – another exciting season at one of the longest running and most famous venues in Australian Speedway history, the iconic, historic, symbolic Lismore Showground venue.

For fifty-five consecutive years the Lismore Speedway each season has delivered not only superb speedway racing, but fabulous sporting entertainment.
Again, this season that will be the plethora when the lights are turned on, Saturday November 2, at Castrol Lismore Speedway for the commencement of the 2024-25 season under the promotion of Kim and Mick Sauer.
The night, sponsored by Herne’s Security, will be highlighted with the traditional season opener signature race, the V8 Dirt Modified Lord Mayor’s Cup.

It’s a race that has found its place in Castrol Lismore Speedway folklore and once again the heavy hitters will be on hand to etch their own special place in history.
It’s an event that has not only grown in status over the years but to win the Herne Security V8 Dirt Modified Lord Mayor’s Cup carries a badge of honour as the race has also become one of the most prestigious events on the national V8 Dirt Modified calendar.

The race automatically creates its own very special brand of track action and will again be fought out by the best in the business – particularly in east coast V8 Dirt Modified competition.
“Everyone knows when we start our season at Castrol Lismore Speedway, the V8 Dirt Modified Lord Mayor’s Cup will be run and won. It’s just what the start of another season means, it commands that kind of attention because it also means speedway is back at the Lismore Showground for another summer,” co-promoter Kim Sauer said.

“But, we’re also pleased with our other nominations from the classes racing on the November 2 programme. The car counts are very good and that means we can provide great racing entertainment for our loyal fans who support our venue.”
There will also be racing for AMCA Nationals, Wingless Sprints, RSA Stockers, RSA Four Cylinder Sedans, Junior Sedans’ New Stars and Top Stars with over 100 cars entered. Wingless Sprints (at this writing) have 29 nominations, while AMCA Nationals have 22 and V8 Dirt Modifieds also have very good numbers.

In keeping with the start of the 2024-2025 season, there are several activities planned this week in the countdown to the November 2 opener. After the specially convened media day on Tuesday, October 29, a free pre-season practice night is set down for this Friday, November 1, while on Saturday morning a race fan appreciation event will be conducted between 9 and 11am in the City of Lismore Central Business District (CBD).

On race day, gates will open at 1PM in preparation for a race fan pit walk. There’s plenty to like this week in the City of Lismore as speedway returns to the local sporting calendar. Track action is set to commence at 4:30PM.
