THE inaugural NSW 360-LS Sprintcar Championship at Castrol Lismore Speedway might be just three weeks away, but there is plenty of excitement with a wide open field of competitors from the host state of NSW, as well as Queensland, primed to battle it out for glory.

Set to be held on the Saturday night of March 1, the NSW Championship that is powered by Two Flogs Podcast and Steve’s Motor World 4X4 Mega Centre, which will play support to the Hoedown at the Showground event for the 410 Sprintcars, is hoping to attract over 20 of the country’s best 360-LS Sprintcars to the 400-metre Castrol Lismore Speedway track.

Amongst the likely entrants for this inaugural running of the NSW Championship for the ever-growing 360-LS Sprintcar class are a host of locals in the form of NSW Championship favourites in youngsters Jacob Jolley, Ryley Smith and Jack Walker. Flying the flag high for the Lismore area, and all three are currently enjoying solid first full seasons in the 360-LS Sprintcar class, and there is absolutely no doubt that they, especially with the consistent front-running form currently held by both Jolley and Smith, would love to be the first driver to have their name etched on the NSW Championship trophy. In fact, Jolley, who won last season’s Australian Wingless Sprint Championship at Castrol Lismore Speedway, picked up the feature race spoils at Castrol Lismore Speedway during last month’s most recent 360-LS Sprintcars appearance.

With the likes of Jolley and Smith eager to protect their home turf at Castrol Lismore Speedway during the NSW Championship, there will be a host of interstate invaders from north of the border. Heading the list of potential Queensland challengers are Kye Jensen, Dan Murray, Dan Moes, John Magro and Libby Vanderreyden. Jensen scored the feature-race spoils for the 360-LS Sprintcars at Castrol Lismore Speedway earlier in the season and the Brisbane-based racer is going to be hungry to back up that performance during next month’s NSW Championship, while Vanderreyden showed what she is capable of if she can qualify up front after she last season at Castrol Lismore Speedway became Australia’s latest female Sprintcar feature race winner.

There is no doubt that the very first running of NSW Championship for the 360-LS Sprintcars will be an event to remember, and picking a firm winner from the pack is going to certainly be no easy feat.

Apart from the 410 Sprintcars with their Hoedown at the Showground event, sharing the bill with the NSW 360-LS Sprintcar Championship are going to be the Production Sedan and Junior Sedan classes.
