The annual Bruce Maxwell Classic for V8 Dirt Modifieds at Castrol Lismore Speedway over the Easter Long Weekend has recently received a massive boost with the announcement of a $20,000 prize pool up for grabs.
In what is the second running of the Bruce Maxwell Classic, which is in honour of the larger than life character who was a competitor in sedans and later Modified Rods before going to become a popular commentor and journalist, the two-night race meeting is offering a prize pool of $20,000, which will see the winner on the second and final night paying $4,000.
Over the two nights of the Bruce Maxwell Classic, there will be plenty of prize money up for grabs, starting with $500 on offer for ‘Quick Time’ in qualifying, along with heat race cash, both the A and B Scrambles winners the opening night will each earn $1,000, while on the second and final night, the pole shuffle winner is going to pick up $500, before the 40-lap Bruce Maxwell Classic deciding feature race is set to not only $4,000 to the winner but also $2,000 for second and $1,000 for third. Over both nights, the prize pool spreads across all of the finishes, so no matter how your weekend is travelling, there will be numerous opportunities to obtain a slice of the prize money on offer.
Apart from the attractive prize pool for the open ranks in the V8 Dirt Modifieds, the Bruce Maxwell Classic hasn’t left out the Sportsman category, which is going to see a sperate feature races on both nights paying $500 to the winner.
The second annual Bruce Maxwell Classic is set to draw a healthy car count, and the Lismore Speedway promotion is offering $300 in tow money to each driver travelling up from the state of Victoria.
Last season’s inaugural Bruce Maxwell Classic was a great success, and it fittingly saw northern NSW raised and good friend of the Maxwell family Andrew Pezzutti score the spoils, who on this occasion defeated the Queensland duo of five-time Australian Champion Kevin Britten and current Australian Champion David Clark.
There is no question about it, the Bruce Maxwell Classic is quickly building the reputation as one of the big blue-ribbon events on the V8 Dirt Modified calendar and is the massive prize pool on offer is proof of this.
This season’s Bruce Maxwell Classic is going to be held over the Easter Long Weekend on the Saturday and Sunday night of April 19 and 20.
