JACOB Jolley dominated Wingless Sprintcar competition, while Zac Brimms took out the opening round of the Northern Rivers Junior Sedan Championship at Castrol edge Lismore Speedway, January 23.
Both these performances now set the scene for tonight's (January 24) championship deciders with the running of the 100-lap Wingless Sprintcar Australian Grand Prix and the final of the Junior Sedans' title.
Jaiden Santin, who has shown impressive main event winning form this season, followed Brimms to the chequered flag while Jacob Waller was third in the round's feature race.
A feature of this evening's card also will be a monster fireworks display in celebration of the upcoming Australia Day.
Jolley had an excellent night after he earlier won three of the nine heats. He carried on from were he left off in the heats when he took out the 20-lap feature ahead of Trent Martin and Kevin Willis. Jolley also put down the fastest lap of the race with a time of 14.927 seconds for a speed of 96.469 km/h.
The top three placegetters are among the favourites for this evening's 100-lapper after Martin and Willis also won heats, though Jolley has to come into very strong calculations.
The top ten in the feature race were rounded out by fourth-placegetter Seiton Young, followed by Michael Butcher, Robbie Mazzer, Mitch Bootland, Errol Campbell, David Eggins and Jamie Usher.
Other heat winners were: Young, Eggins (two victories) and Mazzer.
Feature race wins also went to Nathan Tomkins (AMCAs), Joel Berkley (Production Sedans), Brodie King (Four Cylinder Sedans) and Luke Gray (Street Stocks).
Gates open at 4PM today and racing commences at 5:30pm.
