LISMORE SPEEDWAY SEASON ENDS by DENNIS NEWLYN

Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway promoter David Lander has officially terminated the 2019-2020 season.

In an announcement made on Wednesday, March 18, David said he was left with no alternative but to end the season in the wake of the COVID-19 Corona Virus.

The Corona Virus has affected all public events and it was a matter of abiding by the Federal Government's decision to ban fixtures or gatherings that attract 500 people or more.

“We are like everyone else and we have to go along with what the Government and the Chief Medical Officer says. Nobody knows how long it will be before this Virus is brought under control by medical specialists.

“We can only hope it is sooner than later and we can look to our next season of racing here at the venue.”

The 2020-21 season is planned to commence on Saturday, October 31 with the annual running of the V8 Dirt Modified Lord Mayor's Cup. Sixteen fixtures are again scheduled for next season which concludes on April 17 when the Australian Demolition Derby Championship is held.
