The World Series Sprintcars Championship trail will again haul into Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway next season for a round of its 2020-21 series.
Promoter Dave Lander has locked in Tuesday, January 12 which represents the corresponding round from the previous season when WSS made a successful return to the Lismore Showground after several years' absence.
The 2019 - 20 event was highlighted with one of the biggest attendances in recent years.
“I am delighted to announce we will again host World Series Sprintcars next season. Last season provided some great racing and it was a superb night, so when I was approached by Speedway Australia to run another round, I was pleased to again be involved with the series.”
The confirmation of another appearance by World Series Sprintcars at Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway is another massive addition to what is already a very impressive looking 2020-21 season on paper.
Despite the uncertain future surrounding the Corona Virus pandemic, Dave Lander has already put his upcoming season in place with a number of highlights on the 16-fixture calendar. The 2020-21 season is planned for commencement on Saturday, October 31 featuring the annual running of the V8 Dirt Modified Lord Mayor's Cup and will conclude on April 21 when the Australian Demolition Derby Championship is held.
“We hope the COVID-19 Corona Virus is under control by the end of October and we're back to normality so we can run what looks one of the best seasons in the recent history of the venue,” Lander said.
“I wanted to ensure we had a calendar released for next season as soon as possible and have spent the down time with no racing putting it together, if anything, ahead of when we normally do it.”
The time honoured Australian Speedcar Grand Prix comes back to the Lismore Showground venue and will be run on March 20, 2021.
The AGP, one of the oldest events in world Midget racing with a seventy year tradition, was previously held at Lismore in 2019. The Super Sedans also return this coming season, with a February 20 race date.
V8 Dirt Modifieds and Wingless Sprintcars will again figure prominently in the season schedule and all the support categories are included on the 2020-21 season calendar.
Regular events in the track's more recent history also have been retained on the schedule for next season.
These include the 50-lap Australian Wingless Sprintcar Grand Prix (November 14), Production Sedans' “The Dream” (November 28), Santa Claus appearance, featuring the Four Cylinder Sedan Derby (December 12) and the Production Sedan East Coast GN (March 06).
Major fixtures for the V8 Dirt Modifieds, Round one of the Mr Modified Series (December 26), Mr Modified Final (January 9), the two-night Australia Day Cup (January 23 and 24) and two-night Easter Nationals (April 3 and 4), are already confirmed.
